Sessions Focusing on Women in GI at DDW® 2021

Despite the growing number of women entering the field, many women in GI still face unique barriers and biases, regardless of their career stage. This year, several sessions at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2021 directly address these challenges in order to support the advancement of women in GI. Read on for additional details.

You must be registered for DDW in order to attend the sessions below (no additional tickets required). Discounted rates are available through March 31; sponsoring society member trainees, postdoctoral fellows and students also receive complimentary registration through this date.

Gastroenterology Women’s Coalition (GWC) Symposium: Take Charge of Your Career and Execute Your Strategic Plan

On Demand
CME: 1 hour

This session will discuss career-related issues that women face in the field of gastroenterology. Emotional intelligence, learning when to say no, implicit bias and program development are all concerns that women members of the AASLD, AGA, ASGE and North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition (NASPGHAN) have reported related to their professional endeavors, and are not addressed in other DDW forums. This session will not only benefit women but also the male attendees of DDW. All topics will cover important information that can be useful to all attendees, whether because it would directly impact their careers or in their roles as mentors, mentees and colleagues of women.

This session will be available on demand in the meeting platform once DDW begins on Friday, May 21. It can be viewed in advance of the networking session (see below) and will be available until Aug. 23, 2021.
