DDW 2017 Events for Women in GI

Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2017 strongly advocates for, and supports, the advancement of women in the field of gastroenterology. Historically gastroenterology has been a male dominated field, but evidence shows an increasing number of women are choosing careers in this field, and they face obstacles that are unique to women GIs. This year, DDW’s sponsoring societies will host several sessions that address these challenges, with topics ranging from finding a work-life balance and burnout, to negotiation skills and networking with fellow women GIs.

Additional details are outlined below. While these sessions are free, you must be registered for DDW to attend.

    1. Hi Bharat,

Historically, the field of gastroenterology has been male dominated. More and more women are joining the GI field and they face obstacles that are unique to women gastroenterologists. For this reason, DDW and the sponsoring societies endeavor to provide events for women which address some of these obstacles. However, DDW also offers a diverse selection of sessions and events that are open to all attendees. We hope that you will check back for additional programming information for DDW 2018 in Washington, D.C.

      Best,
      Kristenn
